Many of Shakespeare's plays contain factual places and events that the average person may not ever be able to experience. He used knowledge of lands both near and far to shape the background and mood of his narratives. A far off land might set the stage for a comedy, while scenes closer to home might bring in a more serious mood. Shakespeare's written works are an integral part of highschool and college literary classes, but many have never explored the exciting places in which these stories occur. This website aims to facilitate the exploration of the real life settings of some of Shakespeare's most well known plays.
